What is the training method used in this program?
The It's PAWSible! Dog Training DVD uses Positive Reinforcement training methods. First we teach people how to lure their dog with food into the position we are working on. This also teaches the dog and human a hand signal for each exercise. After the exercise is solidified, we teach people how to get rid of the lure, and then how to use the food as a reward instead. This way, people don't feel as though they are bribing their dog.
Training with food is a wonderful method, but learning how to "fade" the lure, and instead reward, is the real magic of positive reinforcement. The best part is this method uses no harsh tactics, no intimidation by hitting or yelling, and it does not require the use of inhumane dog training shock collars. The positive reinforcement method will help strengthen your relationship with your dog or puppy and will be a lot of fun for both of you!
